The Common Good

Meet our mascot for the Common Good – Chikondi the Giraffe, who teaches us to think of
everyone. Below are some of the ways we uphold this principle in our daily practice at Holy
Cross and All Saints:

  • Children in the School Council, Eco‑Team, Laudato Si’ Team, GIFT Team, and Sports Leaders make decisions that benefit the whole school community, not just themselves. They think about what will help everyone learn, grow, and feel included.

  • The school regularly collects for foodbanks, supports CAFOD, and takes part in Lenten and Advent appeals, teaching pupils to think beyond themselves and act for the good of others locally and globally.

  • Through gardening, litter‑picking, Earth Day activities, and maintaining the Prayer Garden, pupils work together to protect creation so that the whole community—and future generations—can enjoy a healthy, beautiful environment.

  • From Reception buddies to restorative behaviour approaches, children learn to look out for one another, ensuring that every pupil feels safe, valued, and able to take part fully in school life.

  • Children contribute to Masses, assemblies, and Celebrations of the Word, praying not just for themselves but for the needs of the whole school, parish, and wider world—showing that faith calls us to think of everyone.
