British Values

At Holy Cross and All Saints' RC Primary School we take great pride in nurturing not only academic achievement but also the character and citizenship of every child. As part of our commitment to preparing pupils for life in modern Britain, we actively promote an understanding of British values throughout our curriculum and school culture.

These values are:

  • Democracy – understanding how people can influence decision-making through voting and debate.

  • The Rule of Law – appreciating the importance of laws in protecting individuals and ensuring fairness.

  • Individual Liberty – encouraging children to make choices and express themselves freely within a safe and supportive environment.

  • Mutual Respect and Tolerance – fostering respect for others, including those with different faiths, beliefs, and backgrounds.

These principles are not just abstract ideas, they are woven into everyday life at school, from classroom discussions and assemblies to how we treat one another in the playground. By learning about British values, children develop a strong sense of identity, empathy, and responsibility. They begin to understand their rights and duties as members of a diverse and democratic society.

We believe that instilling these values early helps children grow into thoughtful, respectful, and active citizens. Thank you for your continued support in helping us shape a school community that reflects the very best of British life.
