British Values

At Holy Cross and All Saints' RC Primary School we take great pride in nurturing not only academic achievement but also the character and citizenship of every child. As part of our commitment to preparing pupils for life in modern Britain, we actively promote an understanding of British values throughout our curriculum and school culture.

These values are:

  • Democracy – Understanding how people can influence decision-making through voting and having a voice.
  • Rule of Law – Learning why laws are important, how they protect us, and the consequences of breaking them.
  • Individual Liberty – Encouraging freedom of choice and the right to express views safely and responsibly.
  • Mutual Respect – Valuing others, treating people kindly, and understanding that everyone deserves respect.
  • Tolerance of Different Faiths and Beliefs – Promoting understanding and acceptance of people from different religions, cultures, and backgrounds.

These principles are not just abstract ideas, they are woven into everyday life at school, from classroom discussions and assemblies to how we treat one another in the playground. By learning about British values, children develop a strong sense of identity, empathy, and responsibility. They begin to understand their rights and duties as members of a diverse and democratic society.

We believe that instilling these values early helps children grow into thoughtful, respectful, and active citizens. Thank you for your continued support in helping us shape a school community that reflects the very best of British life.
