Wardley Hall Visit

Our Laudato Si’ Team enjoyed a rich and inspiring training day at the Laudato Si’ Centre at Wardley Hall, where they deepened their understanding of how we can care for our common home. The children explored practical ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle, learning how everyday choices can protect God’s creation. They were introduced to the principles of foraging, including how to do it safely and respectfully, before heading into the woodland to gather natural materials. Using their foraged items, the children created beautiful nature‑themed prayer cards—often leaf badges—reflecting the season and their growing appreciation of the natural world.

During their foraging, the team also collected sticks for the Centre’s bug hotel, discovering how small actions can support biodiversity and link directly to the message of Laudato Si’.

The day also focused on using nature to support prayer. The children learned that Jesus often prayed outdoors and were encouraged to follow His example by taking part in a peaceful outdoor Jesus Prayer. They explored how patterns in nature can help us reflect and connect with God, before creating their own prayer mandalas using their remaining foraged materials.

The team returned to school inspired, knowledgeable, and full of ideas for how we can continue to care for creation as a Catholic community.
