Home Learning for School Closure

Dear Parents,

Whilst school is closed I will be providing you with a weekly home learning menu of activities.

The children's main targets for this half term are to:

  • Write their first name independently. If they are achieving this, move on to learning their surname.
  • Recognise and order numbers 1-10.
  • Recognise and begin to describe simple 2D shapes including square, circle, triangle and rectangle.
  • To answer how and why questions.
  • To recognise and begin to write the phase 2 letter sounds.
  • To say the letter names in the alphabet.
  • To begin to hear the initial sound in words.
  • To be able to draw circles and lines to create pictures of everyday things and to be able to talk about what they have drawn.
  • To be able to hold books independently, talk about the main story characters and suggest how the story may end.
  • To use everyday objects for imaginative role-play, creating and retelling stories through this play.

The activities within the weekly home learning menu are all age-appropriate and designed to support your child to meet the above targets. Please try to engage with as many of these activities as you can, as they will really support your child to retain the knowledge they have already learned as well as supporting new development to keep their learning on track.

It's important to note that although some of the activities may seem repetitive, young children consolidate new learning through repeating things little and often.

If at any time you need some extra support or advice please make sure to contact me on Class Dojo or via my email address.

JOLLY SONGS A- Z JOLLY SONGS

Your child will recognise these songs. Everytime we introduce a new letter in class the children learn the song and action to match. Make sure to listen to the songs daily.

Numberblocks Songs | Let's All Draw Numbers

The children got introduced to this in January. In class, the children write the numbers as they watch and listen to The Numberblocks teaching them how to form the numbers. So make sure your child has a pen and paper ready to practise when accessing this video.
Can your child write all of the numbers?
Can they form a numberline to 10?

EYFS Christmas Trip to Adventure Forest

Welcome to the Nursery class page.

A huge welcome to all our new families. The Nursery children have now all settled into school life.  Mrs Rowcroft and I have been impressed with how the children have settled into the school routine and are looking forward to watching the children learn and make friendships as the year progresses.

On this page, you will find a copy of the weekly newsletter which is published and sent out every Friday, as well as our curriculum map and updates from the classroom.

Thank you
